Chief Instructor Anthony Campagna
has over 25 years of experience in the martial arts. Initially
a Karate practitioner, A. Campagna found his way into an
Aikido dojo where he has devoted the last 20 plus years
studying and teaching the art of Aikido.
During the last 12 plus years, A.
Campagna Sensei has trained hundreds of people in the martial
arts from all over the Bay Area. He is well-known for his
practical and straight forward system of practice, In You
Kai Aikido. A. Campagna Sensei has been sought out many
times by peace officers, correction officers and C.H.P.
looking to enhance their training in law enforcement restraints
and martial techniques. Recently, we added bounty hunters
to that list.
A. Campagna Sensei makes it a point
to open the eyes of his students to the nonphysical approach
to martial arts. This may encompass types of awareness practice
and strategies. We have been told frequently you might not
find these approaches in other Aikido dojos. Anthony Campagna
Sensei believes that Aikido is over 95% striking, and makes
his students well aware of the fact.
Anthony Campagna Sensei has had the
great privilege of working with some very fine instructors
in Aikido during his short career. He has an affinity for
other styles of Aikido as well as other art forms.
One of the prime principles emphasized
during practice at Tri City Aikido would be, "Not to
focus on the destruction of others, but the preservation
of the self". A. Campagna believes that the art of
Aikido is what ever it has to be at that particular moment.
This does away with any preconceived ideas of the art being
too soft or hard, defensive or offensive for that matter.
Martial arts can be looked at like a tool. You can use a
hammer to create or tear down, it's up to you. In the dojo,
we are constantly building character and effective technique
, along with mutual respect in a structured and noncompetitive
peaceful environment.
